Walker Unveils Obamacare Alternative

WALKER Fix

In laying out his plan, Scott Walker harkened back to when he was first elected as Governor of Wisconsin, stating how he impressed upon Republican state lawmakers “that the voters had told us that they wanted us to be big and be bold.” That is exactly what his healthcare plan is, Big and Bold.

Walker was clear in stating that he intends to repeal Obamacare in its entirety and replace it with a plan that will focus on localizing healthcare.

“My plan fully repeals Obamacare and replaces it with a system that puts patients and families back in charge of their health care,” Walker told the crowd.

Freedom to choose who and where you received your healthcare from seemed to be a hallmark of Walker’s plan. Not only did he make clear that he intends to allow people to choose which company they receive their health insurance from, he also intends to allow people to choose health care insurance options from a state other than their own.

“States can be more innovative and better help the people living here in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa,” said Walker.

Walker contrasted this with the hundreds of thousands of people who had lost health insurance coverage under Obamacare in Minnesota, pointing out it was one of the states, “hit worst by [Obamacare.]” By giving the states the responsibility of providing health care, Governor Walker believes that his plan will save Americans “trillions in tax money.”

Walker feels his plan will be more flexible to the living conditions of the diverse economic backgrounds of Americans. “My plan will provide for the student trying to get through college…or the middle aged American trying to open a small business.”

Such flexibility will help many Americans, who have difficulty navigating the complicated healthcare process. Such a deficit of knowledge when it comes to healthcare makes this flexibility and ease of use of all the more important. Walker was keen to emphasize this, stating that most people present probably, “knew more about their cellphone coverage than their healthcare coverage,”

The last point that Walker touched on was the fact that the American voter should be wary of Hillary Clinton when it comes to healthcare. Walker stated that back in 1993 Hillary had tried to install her own healthcare plan, which has recently become known as “Hillarycare.” At the time the Heritage Foundation stated that “the Clinton Administration is imposing a top-down, command-and-control system of global budgets and premium caps, a superintending National Health Board and a vast system of government sponsored regional alliances, along with a panoply of advisory boards, panels, and councils, interlaced with the expanded operations of the agencies of Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Labor, issuing innumerable rules, regulations, guidelines, and standards.”

Walker warned that any health care plans that Hillary Clinton would unveil would be further reaching in its harm to the American people than even that of Obamacare.

With this policy rollout Walker becomes the first major Republican presidential contender to unveil an Obamacare alternative. He is now able to not only talk about making America great again, he’s able to point to a concrete plan to do so.
